Thai English Translating in Thailand

Posted on 26 January 2010 by Goy

Not only foreigners in Thailand have problem translating Thai while they are in Thailand, Thai people also have a bit problem about language barrier on English documents. If Thais want to fly abroad to another country like America, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, Thais need to get visa first. In order to get visa, Thais have to apply for it. The application process is all about papers, you go to the website of the embassy of the country you want to go to and look what document they need from you in order to apply for visa. The entire document that the embassy needs has to be translated from Thai to English as well. So in Thailand, there is not only a problem about language barrier for foreigners but also Thais.

Thai document to English

Before Thais apply for visa, they have to get the document ready and of course, they have to go for the professional translator to get the document translate correctly and also get the stamp that guarantee the correction of the translation as well.

There is no other way round on this process, the applicator needs to get all document ready as the embassy requires, otherwise there is no chance for them to get visa or they have to go through the documents and hand in to the embassy again until they get approved.

Everybody needs a Translator

In other way round, the foreigners who need to hand in the document to continue the visa in Thailand, if Thailand needs any document from them, so the foreigners need to translate the original documents from their own language to Thai as well. Language and document always get involved at some point in Thailand so other countries and this is why we need the translators to solve the problem.

Embassy and Immigration is strict

Both the Thai immigration officers and any Embassy in Thailand are very strict when it comes to the translations. If you one mistakes you might have to book a new time and come back again. For the Embassies that can be a long wait and for the Thai immigration you need to sitt and wait a day in the office. Make sure your spelling is correct from Thai to English and English to Thai because that is what concerns them the most. Years and dates also need to be 100 $% correct.

If you have any problems with the translations, embassies, or immigration please contact me and i will be sure to try to help you.

Super official documents

Posted on 28 December 2009 by Goy

We talk about translate the document from English to Thai and Thai to English by the translators but that’s not it, sometimes the official papers have to be approved by the Foreign consular, not just any translators. And the documents which are needed to be approved by the foreign consular are the documents those are very important like Marriage paper for Thai girls who ask for marriage visa, adoption paper for Thai kids who are adopted by foreigners and so on.

This is more complicated process than normal translation. Normally if you apply for normal visa like tourist visa, you don’t need the documents those are approved by the Foreign Consular but for long-term visa, sometimes the embassy will ask for it. The process is this way, you get your documents ready and get the document translated by the translator, then go to Foreign affair and hand in the documents waiting for the approval.

If you need to get the document approve within a day, you need to pay 400 baht per page but if you are not in hurry, you pay for 200 baht per page and come back to get the paper on the next day. But it’s not that easy, sometimes the translated documents are not approved because it’s not all correct. In that case, you need to get your paper translate again until you get it right. You don’t have to pay to Foreign consular more if your paper doesn’t get approve. 400 Baht is final price for one page until you get the approval from the Foreign Consular. Also you don’t have to pay more to your translator in order to get the document right because it’s their mistake not translate it correctly and they have to fix it for you until you get the approval from the Foreign Consular.

This process can take a day because there is a long queue at the Foreign Consular every day, so I suggest that you should get your document translates the day before you go to the Foreign Consular.

Posted on 15 October 2009 by Goy

All our translations can have an official stamp if necessary. Some government agencies require you to get your translations certified by the Department of consular affair. This will take some time to do and we always go ourselves to make sure your document get properly certified. It is important to make sure the Thai translation and certification is correct the first time because it can create problem in the future. Every error the Ministry will mark and you need to go back with another translation. If you have many documents its always best to pay the translator to get the stamps at the Ministry since he or she can change the document right away.

Please check with the Thai government agency you leaving the document to if they require a stamp from the Ministry or just from the Thai translating company. If you have any questions feel free to contact us we are here to help you.
