Lighthouse Club Monthly Gathering the members of lighthouse club, Pattaya branch, at the Dicey Reilly’s Irish pub 2 September 2011.

It was a great succeed when the Lighthouse Club in Pattaya went back to its roots and had their monthly meeting at the Dicey Reilly’s Irish pub. Over 300 people attended the great networking event and the birthday sponsors named Tracy Cosgrove, Paul Strachan and Frank Satra made sure the wine and beer was flowing until 20.00. The Dicey Reilly’s Irish pub took care of the food and serving refreshments throughout the night. Heights Holdings made a private donation at the end of party to make sure the beverage was flowing to all. The last guest had left at around 22.00.
For the people in the construction and property businesses in Pattaya, this is the event they were all looking forward to and everybody was dressed to impress.

Lighthouse Club Pattaya Supports Local Charity

We are happy to announce that the money raised by the Lighthouse Club Pattaya Branch will sponsor the following charities this month and the following months to come, all projects are under the umbrella and protection of Melissa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation (MCCF).

A new Permanent Children Nursery for children from construction workers at Jomtien Beach Pattaya in Chonburi Province, Thailand. Many local sponsors have pledged their supports to help but we, MCCF, are still looking for more property sponsors.

A new house and interior for an old lady in Jomtien area that take care of her two handicapped and paralyzed sons are both former construction workers.. Rent for the land and some of the construction material and work have been secured by local sponsors.

MCCF, together with LHC Pattaya Branch will set up a trust fund for the child of Mr Sitthinon Paphankul, who tragically died on July 2 at 2am 2011, in a construction related accident. The child resides in Issarn and the LHC Pattaya Branch Committee members will travel to their home with MCCF to make sure the child is taken care of until graduation.

The Thai Police in Pattaya imprisoned a English man for 8 months for a simple visa violation. He was thereafter left in prison for 8 month and when the news finally reached the Sunday Mirror Newspaper  his condition was boney – naked and he was chained. He had very few food to survive while he was in the jail because the other prisoners took the food from him.

According to him he was charged with buying sex and drugs and a visa violation but never in front of Thai Police interrogation or be at the court.

On 1st August, Sunday Mirror newspaper of England reported from the words of Mr. Richard Hewitt, the former computer engineer, 49 years old, that he was imprisoned in the jail for 8 month without the court process and he was guilt just only because of the expire of the visa. After this story had published in England, the embassy send Mr. Howard Miller, the ambassador of England in Pattaya to negotiate with the police officer but Mr. Hewitt got help already by Mrs. Tracy Cosgrove, the member of Melissa Cosgrove foundation who came to the police station and paid the fine for 2,500 baht to help him out after hearing the news. And she took him to the hospital, got him clothes and food. Mr. Hewitt took 2 weeks to recover himself and left Thailand after that.

Sunday Mirror reported the background of Mr. Hewitt. He graduated in Computer Engineering major from Sheffield university, United Kingdom. He has good financial status due to the will he got from his father before he came to Thailand and got arrested at the resort in Pattaya, Chonburi. On November, 2010, he got involved with the drug case and bought the sexual service, until later he became the foreigner who wandered around with the expired visa.

Mr. Hewitt was imprisoned in Thailand before got help and got deported back to United Kingdom. Before he went back to his country, the officers of British embassy in Thailand requested him not to tell the public about what happened to him in the jail in Thailand. Even though it happened to him long time ago but that made him lose hope in life but fortunately, the luck was on his side and gave him another chance to survive after the huge feedback from internet surfers who saw the photos of him through www.andrew-drummond.com

Mr. Benny Moaphi, a Swedish Iranian Human Rights campaigner for the right of the prisoners in Thailand, was the person who took the photo of Hewitt claimed “In my opinion, he was left to death and he would definitely die if he didn’t get the help.
